T + 6

This morning Annette was alert and focused, ate a little but then the nausea returned. Today they're again adjusting the dosages to try and manage it. We're just beginning what they call the "basement period" where her blood counts get to their lowest and she is most susceptible to infections. That segment usually run's about a 10 days but could go longer This is followed by the engraftment period where the new blood engrafts and her numbers start to improve. One nurse we spoke with said the earliest she saw engraftment in a BMT patient was T+17 days and the latest was T+32 days. That's the next milestone we're waiting for, hoping for a T + 17 or earlier engraftment. Mark and Katie dropped by and spent the afternoon with us. Annette managed 1 lap but also rode the stationary bike for 5-7 minutes.
