T + 52 Drugs and Blood

Today, what we hope is the last full day in the hospital was spent weaning Annette off her IVs and introducing her to new anti-viral drugs. She slept late today day because last night was a busy night with lots of interruptions and little sleep.  Her hemoglobin was down a bit given her drug regimen so they gave her a red blood transfusion overnight. Her platelets were also down, suppressed by the steroids. It's a balancing act as they try to keep the GVHD under control without unduly impacting her recovery. The afternoon found her much better. Her appetite returned so I ventured out to Longhorn Steakhouse and brought back dinner.
